Help defend potential. One mentor at a time.
It Takes Little To Be Big
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago (BBBSChi) works to ignite the power and promise of Chicagoland youth through one-on-one mentoring relationships between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children from the age seven through high school graduation ("Littles"). These relationships help nurture children, strengthen communities and are founded in the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life.
When I was matched with Little almost four years ago, she had just turned nine years old and it was the start of the Pandemic. I didn't know what to expect but my Little and I bonded right away and embarked on a series of adventures that we'll both never forget. Together we've attended the opera, the symphony, and the Art Institute; explored Chicago cultural landmarks (Chinatown, Garfield Park Conservatory, and my Little's first Cubs game); and countless animal-related outings (like cuddling rescue bunnies, playing with cat arcade kittens, horseback riding, and visiting the zoo). We've also explored our inner creativity via pottery painting, designing our own sneakers, baking cookies, and DIY jewelry and craftmaking galore.
Over the years, I've been so lucky to spend so much quality time with my Little and watching her grow into a confident, whipsmart young adult. I want to help other children realize their potential and build their futures so I'm fundraising for BBBSChi and my goal this year is to raise $2500+ to help match more children across Chicagoland with caring, committed mentors. Any amount will help! If you donate anonymously, please let me know so I can thank you properly offline! <3 https://donate.bbbschgo.org/suzanneniemoth
